Harry Gruyaert (1941)

Magnum photographer, Harry Gruyaert born in Antwerp,Belgium also uses colour inspired by the ‘pop-art’ movement and strong shadows. These images are taken from his book ‘Maroc’

‘For more than thirty years, from Belgium to Morocco, and from India to Egypt, Harry Gruyaert has been recording the subtle chromatic vibrations of Eastern and Western light.’ http://www.magnumphotos

In the British Journal of Photography,  Gruyeart states ‘There is no story, It’s just a question of shapes and light’ (July 27th 2015)

I really like the above quote. Often I have not been so interested in a person or their story, but see their value in filling a space, a lone figure walking into the frame or an interesting silhouette of a body shape.
